Abstract

Researchers at Huazhong Agricultural University in Hubei, China, have developed a machine vision-assisted fluorescence biosensor for the detection of viable Salmonella in food without the need for complex DNA extraction and amplification procedures. The biosensor combines machine vision and learning with a phage and Clostridium butyricum Argonaute (CbAgo) to detect viable Salmonella typhimurium. The biosensor demonstrated high sensitivity and selectivity, with a limit of detection at 40.5 CFU/mL and a linear range of 50-10 CFU/mL. This method reduces the use of chemical reagents and experimental consumables compared to other Salmonella detection methods. [Extracted from the article]
