Abstract

A recent study conducted by researchers at the University Magna Graeia Catanzaro in Italy explored the feasibility of using a smartphone-attachable portable device called the Smart Eye Camera (SEC) to measure tear meniscus height (TMH) in the eyes. The researchers compared the measurements obtained using the SEC with those obtained through standard slit lamp examination and found that there was no statistically significant difference between the two methods. The study concluded that the SEC demonstrated validity and reliability in assessing TMH in healthy eyes, making it a potential alternative to the conventional slit lamp examination. Further information about the study can be found in the journal article "Feasibility of Tear Meniscus Height Measurements Obtained with a Smartphone-Attachable Portable Device and Agreement of the Results with Standard Slit Lamp Examination" published in Diagnostics.
