Abstract
- A recent study conducted at Colorado State University has provided new insights into antiemetic-antivertigo agents. The study focused on tropane alkaloids, which are compounds found in plants such as Hyoscyamus niger. The researchers examined genetic variations in the biosynthetic pathway of tropane alkaloids and found that the h6h gene locus showed polymorphism. The presence of a specific genotype (bb) was associated with higher concentrations of hyoscyamine in root tissue and increased concentrations of scopolamine. This research has implications for the metabolic engineering of tropane alkaloids. [Extracted from the article]
