Abstract

Ukraine has sent reinforcements to the city of Avdiivka in response to a three-pronged attack by Russian forces. The move comes after President Volodymyr Zelenskiy made significant changes to the country's military leadership. The Russian military is pressing its advantage as Ukraine's military faces ammunition shortages and a lack of support from the US. Avdiivka, an industrial satellite city north of Donetsk, has been heavily damaged since 2022. While the city is strategically important, western officials believe that even if Russia takes control, Ukraine will maintain control of the stronghold. The new military chief, Oleksandr Syrskyi, is focused on improving planning, embracing technological progress, and mastering drone warfare. [Extracted from the article]
