Abstract

This article, published in Clinical Pediatric Endocrinology, discusses the issue of falsely elevated serum estradiol (E2) levels in prepubertal girls when measured using immunoassays. The article presents a case study of a three-year-old girl with premature thelarche who had a falsely elevated serum E2 level on electrochemiluminescence immunoassay (ECLIA). The study suggests that an insufficient reagent dose may cause falsely elevated E2 levels and recommends remeasurement using the same immunoassay to discriminate the causes of the analysis. The article provides insights into the pitfalls of E2 measurement and highlights the importance of accurate measurement techniques. [Extracted from the article]
