Abstract
- According to the latest Grantmaker Salary and Benefits Reports from the Council on Foundations, the average salaries for chief staff at corporate foundations and other grantmakers have increased in response to high inflation. In 2023, foundation staff salaries rose by an average of 5.49%, with some funders granting raises and increasing benefits and workplace perks. The report also highlighted improvements in leave policies, with more grantmakers offering paternity and adoption leave. However, despite these efforts, staff retention rates at foundations were still lower in 2023 compared to previous years. The data also showed an increase in staff diversity, with people of color accounting for 32.7% of full-time staff and 14.9% of foundation CEOs. However, the gender pay gap persisted, with female CEOs earning 85.3% of the median salary reported for male CEOs. The survey data reflect the philanthropic sector's response to economic challenges and the ongoing effects of the pandemic. [Extracted from the article]
