Abstract
- A recent study conducted at the University Medical Center Rostock in Germany investigated the impact of ileitis on anastomotic healing after ileocecal resection (ICR) in a mouse model of Crohn's-like ileitis. The researchers found that mice with ileitis did not experience impaired healing of the anastomosis compared to control mice. However, mice with ileitis were more prone to microscopic abscess formation. The study suggests that ileitis alone is not a risk factor for impaired healing, and further research is needed to understand the effects of therapeutic immunomodulation on the healing process.
