Abstract
- A recent study conducted by the Department of Medicine has found that the use of teduglutide can lead to improved outcomes in patients with both Short Bowel Syndrome (SBS) and Crohn's Disease (CD). The study examined the clinical outcomes of patients with CD and SBS who received teduglutide treatment. The results showed that a majority of patients experienced a reduction in parenteral support (PS) by 20% or more, indicating a decrease in the need for nutritional support. Additionally, patients reported improvements in subjective symptoms, stool output, and a decrease in the use of anti-diarrheal medications. The study concluded that teduglutide treatment can result in improved clinical outcomes for patients with CD and SBS without significant effects on immunosuppressive therapy.
