Abstract

This article discusses the safety of early initiation of radiation therapy following endoscopic endonasal surgery for pediatric skull base tumors. The study evaluated a cohort of 11 pediatric patients who underwent endoscopic endonasal surgery followed by radiation therapy within 3 months. The results showed that despite a high rate of intraoperative cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) leaks and complex reconstructions, there were no postoperative CSF leaks or surgical site infections during radiotherapy. The findings suggest that early radiation therapy following endoscopic endonasal procedures requiring reconstruction is safe and effective for pediatric patients with skull base tumors.
