Abstract

A recent study conducted by researchers at Chung-Ang University in South Korea aimed to develop and validate a scale that measures bystander engagement in witnessed intimate partner violence (IPV) situations. The Bystander Engagement Scale for Witnessed Intimate Partner Violence (BESW-IPV) was created and tested on a sample of 311 participants in South Korea. The scale consists of 28 items and was found to have good reliability and validity. The researchers believe that this scale can be applied in various contexts, including patriarchal environments, and further research is needed to validate it in different cultural settings.
