Abstract
- A recent study conducted at a teaching hospital in Bolzano, Italy, aimed to assess the diagnostic performance of MRI in distinguishing between leiomyomas and malignant/potentially malignant mesenchymal neoplasms in patients with rapidly enlarging/sonographically suspicious uterine masses. The study included 88 patients who underwent MRI followed by surgery or follow-up. The researchers found that MRI had high accuracy in identifying malignant/potentially malignant myometrial masses, but the positive predictive value was relatively low due to the low pre-test malignancy probability. This research provides valuable insights into the use of MRI in the differential diagnosis of uterine masses. [Extracted from the article]
