Abstract

In this research paper, a wearable vigorous low-cost 3D printed prosthetic arm has been designed and fabricated for an amputee with a lost transradial or below the elbow prosthesis. An experimental test has been conducted to find out the efficiency, accuracy, gripping strength and feasibility of the designed prosthetic arm. A total control of a 6 degree of freedom hand is accomplished successfully using electromyographic signals. Different gripping patterns have been tested to check out the overall object gripping strength of the prosthetic arm. The arm is a lightweight robotic prosthesis which can be used daily for a long period of time. The total manufacturing cost of the arm is 3,120 Indian rupees which can be considered to be cheap compared to the currently available solutions in the market, thus making it one of the most reliable and low-cost prosthesis for an amputee.
