- This article provides obituaries for three notable individuals: director Norman Jewison, composer Peter Schickele, and singer Mary Weiss. Norman Jewison was a versatile director known for films such as Moonstruck and In the Heat of the Night, which explored issues of race and social justice. Peter Schickele created the comedic character P.D.Q. Bach and was known for his musical satire.
