Abstract

A recent report from Kitasato University in Japan discusses the findings of a study on the toxicity of per- and poly-fluoroalkyl substances (PFAS). The study exposed mice to a mixture of nine PFAS compounds at concentrations equivalent to the estimated daily human intake. The results showed that even low levels of PFAS exposure caused morphological changes in liver tissues and altered the expression of genes related to metabolism and chemical carcinogenesis. The study suggests that daily exposure to PFAS can have harmful effects on the liver and metabolism. [Extracted from the article]
