Abstract

A study conducted by researchers at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai found that individuals with access to eye care services were more likely to have mild, moderate, or severe glaucoma and undergo incisional surgery compared to those without access. The study used data from the National Institutes of Health All of Us Research Program to examine the associations between access to eye care, glaucoma severity, and incisional glaucoma surgery. The findings suggest that access to eye care services is associated with a higher prevalence of glaucoma severity and a greater likelihood of undergoing incisional surgery. Further research is needed to explore methods for encouraging eye care to limit glaucoma progression. [Extracted from the article]
