Abstract

This article discusses a research study conducted at Tilburg University in the Netherlands on the history of experimental psychology. The researchers reconstructed an experiment conducted by C.S. Peirce and Joseph Jastrow in 1885, titled "On Small Differences of Sensation," to gain insights into scientific theories of measurement. The study analyzed the experiment's methodology, including blinding, randomization, noise control, and data recording technology. The findings highlight the relevance of the history of psychology for contemporary philosophy of science and theories of measurement. The research has been peer-reviewed and published in the journal Nuncius. [Extracted from the article]
