Abstract

A recent study conducted by researchers at Shanghai University of Traditional Chinese Medicine examined the global trends in research on the application of bufalin for cancer treatment from 2003 to 2022. Bufalin, the main active ingredient in the traditional Chinese medicine huachansu, has been found to have multiple effects in the clinical treatment of colorectal cancer, including inhibiting migratory invasion, reversing multi-drug resistance, inducing apoptosis and differentiation, and inhibiting angiogenesis. The study analyzed 371 papers and found a steady increase in the number of articles published globally, with China having the highest number of published articles and Japan having the highest number of citations. The researchers concluded that this comprehensive overview will help other researchers understand the progress in the field, promote collaboration and knowledge sharing, and encourage future research on bufalin for cancer treatment.
