Abstract

Researchers at Zhejiang University in Hangzhou, China have reported on a rare case of acute adrenal insufficiency (AI) caused by antiphospholipid syndrome (APS) secondary to systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE). APS and SLE are often discussed together as closely related diseases, and APS-related endocrine manifestations are rare. Prompt diagnosis of AI is crucial, as it can have high morbidity and mortality if left untreated. This research has been peer-reviewed and published in the World Journal of Emergency Medicine.
