Abstract

President Volodymyr Zelenskiy of Ukraine has promised better protection for Ukrainian companies from corruption investigations while also urging them to pay their taxes. This comes in response to complaints from business executives about overreach by authorities, with the recent detention of investment banker Igor Mazepa on real estate violation charges being a focal point. Zelenskiy has proposed amendments to existing laws to minimize pressure on legal businesses and has suggested a three-month moratorium on legal proceedings that would force a company to halt its operations. The government and top business owners will also establish a joint council to address issues. [Extracted from the article]
