Abstract

After the release of the album Bangerz (2013) the teen idol Miley Cyrus has reshaped her image becoming in few months an "over the top" celebrity. With the mise en scène of visual excess during her live shows, but also with her scandalous manners on her social profiles (smoking drugs or simulating sexual acts), she has tried to avoid the image of the ordinary girl that has characterized the previous part of her career, when she was enrolled by Disney for the sitcom, Hannah Montana, redefining her identity as an alternative girl, and pornifing her innocent imagine to become a fetishized icon, going beyond the normalized and controlled gender. As the result of a soft porn pastiche where Camp and queer elements are combined together producing a carnivalesque excess, she has (re)designed the female body, subverting the idea of the objectified and commodified woman through self-mocking attitude and wearing ironic and iconic outfits that mix different styles and cultures, basing her live performances to highlight the question about gender fluid and sexual freedom.
