Abstract

This document is a response to a letter regarding the "ACVIM consensus statement on pancreatitis in cats." The authors agree with the letter writer that there is currently no evidence linking autoimmune pancreatitis in cats to IgG4. They acknowledge that the presence of IgG4-staining cells in the pancreas and circulating antibodies against the pancreas have not been established in cats, but suggest that the response to immunosuppressive therapy in cats with chronic pancreatitis may indicate an immune-mediated cause. The authors express their gratitude for the opportunity to respond. [Extracted from the article]
