Abstract
- Betelgeuse, a red supergiant star located in the Orion constellation, has long puzzled astronomers with its mysterious behavior. Recent studies have revealed that the star is spinning much faster than expected, leading researchers to speculate that it may have swallowed a companion star in its early years. Betelgeuse is also known for spewing massive amounts of gas into space, despite its upper atmosphere being cooler than expected. While the star is expected to explode in a supernova in around 100,000 years, it poses no immediate threat to Earth. [Extracted from the article]
