Abstract
- A patent has been issued to the University of Pittsburgh for a protein delivery system that extends the half-lives of therapeutic proteins and delivers them to the site of injury. The system uses a coacervate protein delivery system to protect and deliver proteins over several weeks, reducing the quantity of protein needed and improving the efficacy of treatments. This advancement has the potential to improve wound healing, cartilage regeneration, treatment of burns, and treatment of surgical trauma. The patent describes the composition and method for preparing the therapeutic composition, as well as its potential applications in treating myocardial infarcts. [Extracted from the article]
