Abstract

A study conducted by the Universidad Central del Ecuador in the Andes region of Ecuador aimed to evaluate the efficacy of triclabendazole (TCBZ) in treating Fasciola hepatica infections in bovine and ovine animals. The study found that TCBZ had a high efficacy rate of 83% in bovines and 97% in ovine animals 30 days after treatment. However, re-infection rates reached the initial prevalence after five months. The researchers recommend integrated control strategies, including chemotherapy with TCBZ, vector control, and future drug resistance studies. [Extracted from the article]
