Abstract

Researchers at the University of Siena in Italy have conducted a study on synthetic derivatives of natural cinnamic acids as potential anti-colorectal cancer agents. They synthesized a series of amides and tested them against colorectal cancer cells. Several of the synthesized molecules showed promising antiproliferative activity and induced cell cycle arrest and apoptotic cell death in colon tumor cell lines. These findings suggest that cinnamic acid derivatives could be potential anticancer compounds for the development of anti-colorectal cancer agents. The research has been peer-reviewed and published in Chemical Biology & Drug Design. [Extracted from the article]
