Abstract

A recent study conducted by the University of Toronto examined the effects of feeding status on food consumption and learning performance in zebrafish. The researchers found that zebrafish that were fed five times a day consumed less food during habituation and training sessions compared to those fed once a day. However, the five-times-a-day-fed fish showed enhanced learning and memory performance, as they swam closer to the conditioned stimulus during a post-training probe trial. The study concluded that elevated chronic feeding improved food consumption and learning performance in adult zebrafish without affecting their activity levels. [Extracted from the article]
