Abstract

A recent report from Assiut University discusses research findings on Campylobacter coli, a common cause of gastroenteritis in humans. The study aimed to understand the prevalence, transmission, and genetic diversity of Campylobacter species in poultry and humans. The researchers collected samples from poultry and children, and found that the overall prevalence of Campylobacter was 31.5% using conventional culturing techniques, and 35.6% using PCR analysis. They also found that C. coli was the most common species in poultry samples, while C. coli, C. jejuni, and mixed infections were found in human samples. The study highlights the importance of understanding genetic diversity for effective management and prevention strategies. [Extracted from the article]
