Abstract
- Ron Capps won the NHRA U.S. Nationals driving a Don Prudhomme-Hot Wheels tribute Funny Car. Don Prudhomme, a successful drag racer, added a Funny Car to his racing operation in the 1960s and formed a partnership with Tom McEwen, creating the iconic "Snake and Mongoose" legacy. Prudhomme's performance at the 1973 NHRA US Nationals was a pivotal moment in his Funny Car career, as he won the event and set records. Fifty years later, Ron Capps honored Prudhomme's win by designing his NAPA-sponsored Funny Car to resemble Prudhomme's 1973 entry. Capps went on to win the U.S. Nationals, continuing the legacy.
