Abstract
- A recent study conducted at the Paris Brain Institute has found that the Healthy Aging Brain Care Monitor questionnaire (HABC-M) may be a useful tool for detecting unawareness of cognitive decline, known as anosognosia, in the early stages of Alzheimer's disease. The study administered the HABC-M to 30 Alzheimer's patients and 30 healthy controls, along with their caregivers. The results showed that the cognitive subscale of the HABC-M was able to detect anosognosia in the prodromal stage of Alzheimer's disease, and the caregiver burden subscale provided additional information. The researchers suggest that a shorter version of the HABC-M could be a practical and efficient instrument for detecting anosognosia in clinical settings, leading to earlier diagnosis of Alzheimer's disease.
