Abstract

A new report from the University of Sydney provides fresh data on endocrinology, specifically focusing on serum testosterone measurements in clinical practice. The study found that direct immunoassays used for testosterone measurements have method-specific bias, while liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry (LCMS) is more accurate and specific. The study also examined the within-person variability of serum testosterone in healthy men using LCMS measurement and identified the most sensitive androgen biomarkers to age and testosterone. The findings may be useful for future studies on androgen action in male aging. [Extracted from the article]
