Abstract

Researchers from the Ghulam Ishaq Khan Institute of Engineering Sciences and Technology in Pakistan have published a new study on engineering. The study focuses on the use of paper-based microfluidics for various applications, including diagnostics, environmental detection, and food quality control. The researchers propose a method for manipulating fluid flow in paper channels by altering the surface contact between the storage medium and the paper. Increasing the contact area between the reservoir and the paper surface decreases flow velocity and increases fluidic time delay, which can be beneficial for lateral flow sensing devices used in medical, environmental, or food quality applications.
