Abstract
- A study conducted by researchers at Wageningen University in the Netherlands explores the eating-out practices of poor urban consumers in Dhaka, Bangladesh, and their strategies for coping with food safety concerns. The study found that despite varying concerns, coping strategies are broadly similar across different eating-out practices, such as snacking and having a complete meal. The main concerns include food presentation, unhygienic conditions, and unknown processing, while coping strategies involve searching for information, using heuristic tools, and avoidance. The researchers emphasize the need for context-specific policy interventions to ensure food safety in the urban food system of the global south. [Extracted from the article]
