Abstract

A recent study conducted at the University of Saskatchewan in Canada examined the effects of gastrointestinal nematode (GIN) infection on the antibody response to the bovine viral diarrhea virus (BVDV-1) vaccine in fall-weaned feedlot cattle from western Canada. The study found that GIN infection, as indicated by fecal egg counts and Ostertagia ostertagi serum antibody titers, did not have a significant impact on the humoral immune response to the vaccine antigens. However, further research is needed to investigate the effects of higher GIN burdens and immune protection from clinical disease. This study highlights the importance of understanding regional factors that may affect vaccine response in cattle. [Extracted from the article]
