Abstract

A recent study conducted at the Madang Provincial Hospital Eye Clinic in Papua New Guinea aimed to determine the prevalence and pattern of eye problems in the region. The study included 1,664 patients who received services at the clinic between January and June 2020. The findings revealed a high prevalence of visual impairment and blindness, with corneal ulcers and keratitis, refractive errors, and cataracts being the most common ocular morbidities. The researchers emphasized the need to improve accessibility to eye care services in the country. [Extracted from the article]
