Abstract

Researchers at Shangqiu Normal University in China have developed a novel dual-mode sensor for detecting the activity of BACE1, an enzyme associated with Alzheimer's disease. The sensor uses a combination of electrochemiluminescence and electrochemical detection methods, and relies on the assembly of peptide and luminol co-functionalized silver nanoparticles induced by cucurbit[8]uril. The sensor demonstrated high sensitivity and could potentially be used for early diagnosis of Alzheimer's disease. The research was supported by the National Natural Science Foundation of China.
