Abstract

A recent study conducted by researchers at the Hospital of Chengdu University of Traditional Chinese Medicine in Chengdu, China, analyzed the research status and trends in the field of metformin and gut microbiota. The study used bibliometric tools to analyze publications from 2012 to 2022 and found that the number of research articles on this topic has been increasing annually. The study included 517 papers from 57 countries and identified China as the leading country in terms of publications. The most influential institution was the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and the most popular journal was PLOS ONE. The study also highlighted emerging topics such as "metabolites," "aging," and "intestinal barrier."
