Abstract
- A recent study conducted in Mercogliano, Italy, examined the efficacy and safety of a novel sirolimus-coated balloon in the treatment of femoropopliteal steno-occlusive disease. The study enrolled 80 patients with steno-occlusive lesions of the superficial femoral artery. The primary efficacy outcome was primary patency at 12 months, and the secondary efficacy outcome was freedom from clinically-driven target lesion revascularization at 12 months. The study found that the sirolimus-coated balloon was a safe and effective treatment option for femoropopliteal steno-occlusive lesions. However, further research and randomized controlled trials are needed to confirm these findings. [Extracted from the article]
