Abstract

A study conducted by researchers at Hainan Medical University in China explores the relationship between the gut microbiota and Parkinson's disease (PD). The study suggests that the gut microbiota plays a role in regulating neuroprotective function and that patients with PD have an imbalance in their gut microbiota. Interventions targeting the gut microbiota, such as prebiotics, probiotics, and fecal microbiota transplantation, have shown promise in treating PD. However, the causal relationship between the gut microbiota and PD is complex and requires further investigation. The study highlights the need for future research to address key questions in this area. [Extracted from the article]
