Abstract
- A recent study conducted by researchers at the Education University of Hong Kong proposes a new method for evaluating healthcare accessibility in the context of building healthy cities. The study addresses the limitations of the two-step floating catchment area (2SFCA) method, which has been criticized for its biased and misleading results. The proposed method, called the Generalised Flow-based 2SFCA (GF2SFCA), incorporates actual mobility data to measure hospitals' influential range, distance-decay effect, and attractiveness. The study demonstrates the effectiveness and robustness of the GF2SFCA framework using Wuhan, China as a case study. The research concludes that the data-driven property of GF2SFCA allows for practical implementation in various contexts, benefiting the survey of regional healthcare equality and its dynamics.
