Abstract

A new report discusses research findings on atrial fibrillation, a heart disorder. The study from Southern Medical University in Guangdong, China, focuses on the involvement of plasminogen activator inhibitor-1 (PAI-1) in age-related atrial fibrosis. The researchers found that PAI-1 is closely related to aging-related fibrosis and that the p300/p53/PAI-1 signaling pathway plays a role in atrial fibrosis induced by aging. These findings provide new insights into the treatment of atrial fibrillation in elderly patients. [Extracted from the article]
