Abstract

Researchers at Maseno University in Kenya have published a new report on HIV/AIDS, focusing on a mathematical model that incorporates dual protection, ART adherence, and PrEP and condom use. The study found that if the basic reproductive number is less than one, the disease-free equilibrium point is stable. However, if the reproductive number is greater than one, the endemic equilibrium point exists and is locally stable. The researchers concluded that efforts should be made to reduce undiagnosed infectives through testing and enrolling them in ART treatment, which would lower their infectivity and chances of progressing to AIDS.
