Abstract

This article discusses the relationship between dietary components, oral microbiome composition, and dental caries in school-aged children and adolescents. The study found that the consumption of sweets, sweetened drinks, and carbonated drinks was associated with an increased risk of caries. Artificial sweeteners did not provide protection against caries. Another study examined the dental plaque structure of children and teenagers and identified various bacteria strains. It found that poor oral hygiene and malposition were local risk factors for caries, and there was a positive association between caries and the consumption of sweets and sugary drinks. The document provides a list of references to scientific articles on oral health, dental caries, and the oral microbiota, offering valuable information for researchers and those interested in oral health.
