Abstract

A recent study conducted in China by researchers at the First Affiliated Hospital of Kunming Medical University explored the relationship between patients' attitudes toward medication and adherence to antipsychotic treatment in first-episode patients with schizophrenia. The study found that patients' attitudes toward drugs at the beginning of treatment were a significant predictor of treatment discontinuation. Female sex and a higher baseline attitude score were identified as protective factors against discontinuation. The findings highlight the importance of considering patients' attitudes toward medication in order to improve adherence and treatment outcomes for individuals with schizophrenia.
