Abstract

A study conducted at the Hospital of Piacenza in Italy examined the effectiveness and safety of minimally invasive procedures for the treatment of cholecystocholedocholithiasis, a condition involving gallstones in the gallbladder and bile ducts. The study focused on endoscopic ultrasound (EUS)-guided procedures such as EUS-guided gallbladder drainage (EUS-GBD), EUS-guided rendezvous (EUS-RV), and EUS-guided biliary drainage (EUS-BD), as well as cholangioscopy-guided electrohydraulic lithotripsy (CS-EHL). The results showed that these procedures were highly effective and safe for patients with acute cholecystitis who were unfit for surgery and for those who had experienced previous treatment failures. The study concluded that minimally invasive approaches, particularly EUS-guided procedures, are a viable option for treating cholecystocholedocholithiasis. [Extracted from the article]
