Abstract
- This article discusses the case of Kathleen Peterson, who was found dead at the bottom of a staircase, and her husband Michael Peterson, a crime novelist, who was charged with her murder. The trial had many twists and turns, and although Michael was initially found guilty in 2003, he later became a free man after a retrial. Michael, now 80 years old, lives in a ground floor apartment without stairs and has published two books on his case, donating the profits to charity. He recently split from Sophie Burnett, one of the editors of a Netflix documentary about the case, and lived with his first wife Patty Peterson until her death in July 2021. His children have differing opinions on his guilt, with his eldest son Clayton remaining close to him, while Todd now believes his father is guilty. Michael's adopted daughters Margaret and Martha continue to support him. [Extracted from the article]
