Abstract

This article explores the hidden universe beyond what our eyes can see, emphasizing that visible light is just a small portion of the electromagnetic spectrum. It discusses how astronomers use telescopes and detectors to observe and study different wavelengths of light, such as infrared, X-rays, and radio waves, emitted by cosmic objects in space. The article provides examples of the detection of gamma rays from exploding stars and the discovery of cosmic microwave background radiation from the Big Bang. It also highlights the use of telescopes to create composite images of celestial objects, using the example of Cassiopeia A, and the effectiveness of infrared light in locating asteroids.
