Abstract
- This article from All About History highlights two significant events in history. The first event took place on January 14, 1954, when Marilyn Monroe, a famous film star, married Joe DiMaggio, a retired American baseball player. Their marriage was highly publicized but ended after nine months due to Monroe citing "mental cruelty" as the reason for their divorce. However, they eventually reconciled and remained friends until Monroe's death in 1962. The second event occurred on January 16, 2006, when Ellen Johnson Sirleaf was sworn in as the President of Liberia. This marked a historic moment as she became the first woman to be elected as president in any African country. Sirleaf served two terms as president and later established the Ellen Johnson Sirleaf Presidential Center for Women and Development. [Extracted from the article]
