Abstract

Researchers from Zahedan University of Medical Sciences in Iran have conducted a study on the photocatalytic removal of the antibiotic metronidazole from aqueous solutions. The researchers synthesized magnetic nanocatalysts (Fe-doped TiO2@Fe3O4) using the sol-gel technique and characterized them using various analytical methods. They found that the highest degradation efficiency of metronidazole (99.37%) was achieved at a pH of 3, with specific concentrations of the nanocatalysts and reaction time. The study suggests that photocatalytic degradation can be an effective method for removing pharmaceutical pollutants from water resources. [Extracted from the article]
