Abstract
- Researchers from Leiden University Medical Center in the Netherlands have made new findings in the study of tachycardia, a condition characterized by a rapid heart rate. The researchers explored the mechanisms underlying tachycardia and found that regions of dense fibrosis in the atria can create an electrically isolated conduction pathway, leading to reentry and the onset of arrhythmias. They also discovered that these arrhythmias can spread globally within the heart. The study provides insights that may improve the effectiveness of ablation, a treatment for abnormal cardiac electrical signals. [Extracted from the article]
