Abstract

A recent study conducted by researchers at the Second Affiliated Hospital of Anhui Medical University in China has explored the role of oxidative stress in diabetic retinopathy (DR) and potential therapeutic strategies involving antioxidants. The study found that oxidative stress is involved in the development of DR, and excessive accumulation of reactive oxygen species (ROS) can damage the retina and contribute to the progression of the disease. Antioxidant therapy has shown promise in alleviating retinal capillary degeneration in animal experiments, although more clinical trial data is needed. This research provides valuable insights into the pathogenesis of DR and potential treatment options. [Extracted from the article]
